In my nation we had one word we used to say ‘harambe’ which means pulling together. We shouldn't walk alone. As society, we should care enough for any woman who is pregnant.
Dr Anne Kihara
President, International Federation of Obstetrics and Gynaecology
Over the months leading up to and following the conclusion of the Summit, participants worked together to establish A Roadmap to Combat between 2023 and 2030 (aka the Roadmap), a shared plan—developed and held collectively—for preventing and treating PPH. The Roadmap is organized around four strategic areas, which reflect the journey of life-saving interventions from idea to clinical practice.
The Roadmap was shared through a soft launch at the International Maternal Newborn Health Conference in Cape Town to solicit additional stakeholder input and feedback. Partners also began making commitments to advance portions of the Roadmap.
The community has an opportunity now to come together and to achieve big reductions in maternal and newborn mortality.

At FIGO 2023, the Roadmap was released as an official WHO publication. This accountability platform was launched in concert, to help ensure commitments are sustained and progress is maintained. USAID has committed to implementation of the Roadmap through their missions.
